REST AREAS - SA BORDER TO NORSEMAN W.A.

ACROSS THE NULLABOR FROM THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BORDER TO NORSEMAN WESTERN AUSTRALIA


Several sites have been omitted due to being either unsuitable for overnight camping, truck stops or dog areas.

26th February 2011 - Hearder Hill Rest Area - 36k West Eucla - 29k East Mundrabilla. A large level area well away from the highway with ample off track shady camping sites along tracks heading further away from the highway. A table under trees, and bins are supplied

27th February 2011 - Kathala Pass - 3k West Mundrabilla - 113k East Madura. Located 500m South of the Highway, this site has two large water tanks that are easily accessed for water that should be boiled before drinking.

27th February 2011 - Jillah Rockhole - 10k West Mundrabilla - 106k East Madura – Another large camping area with plenty of off track camping areas well off the highway – the long drop toilet is in a reasonable condition. Plenty of shade, tables and bins make up the rest of this rest area.

27th February 2011 - Moodini Bluff - 90k West Mundrabilla - 26k East Madura – A large level area with plenty of shade, tables, bins and a reasonable long drop toilet. There are plenty of off track camping areas well away from the highway.

27th February 2011 - Moonera Tank - 47k West Madura - 43k East Cocklebiddy – This site has an emergency phone and room for trucks on the edge of the highway. There is plenty of off track camping with bins, tables and level shaded sites

27th February 2011 - Domblegabby Rest Area - 39k West Caiguna - 143k East Balladonia – A large level open area with some shade trees. There is a large area well away from the highway well behind the water tanks. The water tank water supply is easily accessible but water should be boiled before drinking. Other facilities include a shelter shed near the water tank, tables, bins and a long drop toilet.

27th February 2011 - Baxter Rest Area - 67k West Caiguna - 115k East Balladonia – One of the best camping areas on the WA side of the Nullabor – The large level well shaded sites are located near to the composting toilet, tables and bins. A further 400m away from highway are level sites near gravel piles for quieter overnight camping -

28th February 2011 - Woorlba Homestead - 132k West of Caiguna or 50k East Balladonia. This 24 hour rest area has tables, shade, bins, an emergency phone, composting toilet as well as
plenty of off track camping sites well back off the Highway.

28th February 2011 - Fraser Range Rest Area - 109k West Balladonia - 83k East Norseman - A small area with sloping sites with good views overlooking a lake. There are only a few spots away from the long drop toilet – the site also has a dump point next to the toilet. We recommend use 10 Mile Rocks Rest Area only 4k further on towards Norseman.

1st March 2011 - 10 Mile Rocks - 113k West Balladonia - 79k East Norseman – Another large area with ample of good spots, a composting toilet, tables, bins and a huge off track area with plenty of shade.
