16th September 2008 - Duaringa Rest Area - 1k East Duaringa – A la Large Attractive Grassy Area in Duaringa. This level, 24 hour rest area has hot showers, septic toilets, tables, electric BBQ’s set around a water feature near a large shelter shed.

3rd August 2004 - Bogantungan Rest Area - Bogantungan, 98k West Emerald - 70k East Alpha - 400m South Highway – This is a relatively small, unshaded, 24 hour rest area that has septic toilets at the railway station and fresh bore water.

4th August 2004 - Drummond Range Lookout - 108k West Emerald - 64k West Anakie - 60k East Alpha. There are no facilities at this well shaded, reasonably level rest area that overlooks the Rockhampton to Longreach railway line.

5th August 2004 - Longreach Water Reserve - 4k North West Longreach - 1k East Highway - Limited to 4 nights only, this campsite is extremely popular and campers desiring to stay should arrive prior to lunch to get a spot.

7th August 2004 - Surprise Creek - Bough Shed Hole Campground - Bladensburg National Park - 28k South Winton . Reached by turning east off Winton / Jundah Road 14k South of Winton onto Opalton Road for 12k then travel North along River Gums Route for 2k. Although along a dirt road that is not suitable in the wet, this site offers well shaded level sites and a pit toilet. Have a look at the memorial to the Shearers Strike on the way to this camp.

20th March 2011– Cawnpond Lookout – See entry under 10th August 2004 – Winton to Boulia, Queensland











10th August 2004 - Hamilton River - 286k West Winton - 76k East Boulia – A large level wide open area with little shade, other than a shelter shed with a water tank. There is no sign limiting time to 20 hours and there are plenty of parking spaces away from trucks. A cairn remembering a Cobb & Co. Rest Stop is located at this site.

10th August 2004 - Dajarra Campground - Dajarra - Near the old Railway Station – There is a fee for power at this level, open campsite that is patrolled by the local police to ally any fears from the local children. The toilets are septic and the showers are hot from the bore water supply. We stayed overnight without any problems and would stay again if travelling through Dajarra.

11th August 2004 - WW2 Airfield - 50k West Mt. Isa - 139k East Of Camooweal - Near Monument On Barkley Highway – Although on the Highway, we found the noise to be minimal and the sites to be well shaded, level and well off the main track. There is a shelter shed and a monument to those that constructed the road.
