20th October 2008 - Six Mile Rest Area - 6k South Gympie - 4k North Kybong
A large overnight camping area, with some sites well back off the highway. Facilities
include shelter sheds, bins, shade, grassy, some level, toilets, dump point and an
electric BBQ. There is also a bush walk to the Mary River.

noisy, 20 hour rest area that has no access over a small bridge to the septic toilets for
caravans. Town water, tables, shade and bins are provided. This site is not suitable

2nd January 2010 - Gunalda Rest Area - 2k North Gunalda A good overnight area that
is off the highway and has both sloping and level sites with some shade, a shelter
shed, septic toilets, and town water. This site is also a driver reviver station during
holidays.

16th February 2010 - Tiaro Memorial Park - North of Gympie in Inman Street
behind the Town Park - An excellent rest area that has septic toilets, a unisex hot
shower, B.B.Q.'s, town water and shelter sheds. The rest area is slightly sloping with
plenty of shade and only a short walk to town. Please support the local businesses

16th October 2008 - Apple Tree Creek - 7k North West of Childers and 42k South of Gin Gin. A reasonably level well shaded area that is beside the highway where overnight camping is permitted. The toilets are septic and there is a shelter shed with an Electric BBQ and bins.

15th April 2004 - Gin Gin Rest Area - 2k North of Gin Gin – A DMR Rest area that is level, very large with plenty of shade. The toilets are septic and town water is available. A popular rest area for those travelling north or south on the Bruce Highway.

15th October 2008 - Granite Creek - 36k South of Miriam Vale and 63k North Gin Gin. Another DMR rest area. Some road noise due to being at the bottom of a hill next to a creek. There is a septic toilet and bore Water at the far end of the area. The shelter shed has tables and there is plenty of shade at this level area beside the creek.

9th May 2007 - Guthalungra Rest Area - Guthalungra - 70k South of Ayr and 45k North of Bowen – This overnight rest area is behind the park and on a sealed section of road. The area is close to the highway and is noisy at night. Water is available. I cannot recall any toilets or dump points at this site in May 2007. There may be toilets at the Service Station across the road.

18th January 2010 - Saunders Beach – Turn East off the Bruce Highway 87k South of Ingham - 24k North of Townsville - 1k North of Yanbula. On the North side of town, this small, shaded, level, and popular 24 hour rest area has cold showers, septic toilets, a shelter shed and bore water. On each of our visits, we have found overstayers and squatters at this site thus denying genuine travellers the opportunity to enjoy the surrounding area.

7th April 2003 - Bluewater Park Rest Area. Another roadside rest area that is supplied by the Thuringower Shire Council. Located 80k South of Ingham and 29k North of Townsville, this is a reasonably large, level, shady area that has septic toilets and water. Although close to the highway, noise is not a great problem. A time limit of 24 hours applies to this site. Camps
